Laura’s hobby horse is worked in stockinette stitch, short rows, and uses intarsia for color changes. This pattern uses feltable wool yarn.  You will need approximately 100 yards of heavy weight white wool yarn and about 50 yards of dark brown wool and about 8 yards of wool in a contrast color to create the halter. The pattern is worked on size 10 ½ circular needles, a size J crochet hook, and a large tapestry needle. The hobby horse is mounted on a ¾ inch dowel rod, and attached to the rod with a piece of adhesive industrial strength velco (hook side)
